NFL Divisional Round Reviewing my Picks

Nfl-playoffs-748167

I fared much better this weekend, finishing up at 3-1. This was not as good a weekend as last with a couple of blowouts, I never expected much from the Seahawks/Bears game, but I did think Packers/Falcons would be a closer game.

Packers @ Falcons My Pick: Packers Winner: Packers

The Packers definitely came into this game with momentum off a big win in Philly, but Atlanta did not play like a 13-3 team at all.  I expected the Packers to win, but not in a blowout.  I admit I fell asleep towards the end of the 3rd quarter of the game, there was nothing to stay awake for.

Ravens @ Steelers My Pick: Steelers Winner: Steelers

This was another game I thought would be close, don’t let the final score of 31-24 fool you at all, the Steelers got behind early but outscored the Ravens 24-3 in the second half.

Seahawks @ Bears My Pick: Bears  Winner: Bears

I didn’t expect the Seahwaks to be competitive in this one, they really weren’t.  Nice job by the Bears, they clearly focused on the Seahawks, and did not look ahead to the NFC Championship game, which with the Falcons loss, the day before they knew they would be hosting with a win yesterday.

Jets @ Patriots My Pick: Patriots Winner: Jets

Where to start on this one? The NY Post always fun to see their take on any NY sports story

For the first 40 minutes watching the game I kept waiting for the Patriots offense to start moving the ball, with a couple of minutes left in the 3rd is when I realized they weren’t.   After all the talk, the Jets did come through and really dominated the pats yesterday.  Bill Belichik’s decision to go for the 2 point conversion with almost 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter showed how little confidence he had in his teams ability to hold the Jets or move the ball.

It’s funny how football is not as clear as baseball, as a Mets fan I NEVER root for the Yankees (lets not even get into situations like Yankees/Phillies World Series), but as a Giants fan, I could possibly root for the Jets.  I haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, will save that for later in the week and my Championship weekend picks.  In the plus column for rooting for the Jets, the Superbowl is always a little more interesting when a local team is involved, on the negative side, another 3 weeks of all Jets all the time on NY sports talk radio I won’t be able to listen to any of the Superbowl run up.

What do you think? Jump on the bandwagon or pick against the Jets for a 3rd week in a row?
