Technotes for Lotus Notes Traveler

Tags: Traveler mobile notes domino ND8

Lots of ND 8.0.1 Technotes are appearing today, including more information about Lotus Notes Traveler.

Technote 7011701 Detailed system requirements - IBM Lotus Notes Traveler 8.0.1
Technote 1294566 IBM Lotus Notes Traveler 8.0.1 - Troubleshooting
Technote 1294477 IBM Lotus Notes Traveler 8.0.1 - Limitations and restrictions

There are a number of items to be aware of detailed in the technote, but probably most importantly is this one regarding mail deleted on the mobile device.

Items are deleted immediately on the mobile device. They are not moved to a trash folder on the device.

As previously announced Windows Mobile is the only supported platform for this release, but I expect to see more mobile platforms in the near future, which is good news, I have been running Traveler for a while now, and as I have mentioned my only complaint so far has been the Windows Mobile device, not traveler itself.  Since the first beta drop install and configuration has been easy, and it has been very stable, and of course if you are already running Notes/Domino you can't beat the price.

1 - Hey Mitch,
Thanks for posting this information! As for your question about other mobile platforms, I think it safe to say we won't see a Palm platform anytime soon. I asked in the Developers Lab and was told very straight forward like, no. Stinks because I really like the TX, but Palm I think has done themselves in.

2 - @Andy, I know that in the US, Palm still has a strong foothold in the SmartPhone market, but here in Europe it is practically all gone, with a reasonably even split between Blackberry, WindozeMobile and Symbian.

I would be very surprised if IBM saw any ROI in developing functionality for the Palm. The only thing that might trigger this is if a major corporate (say 50,000+ users) had standardised on this platform. I don't know of any that have.
