Sametime 8.0.1 is out, and has some nice improvements

Adam Garetenberg blogged about many of the new features in Sametime 8.0.1 yesterday.  Carl points out some of his favorites, including AdminP support to update contact lists (finally!!) note this is currently on Windows only. For me one of the things I have been looking for is the ability to control screen sharing across two monitors, see Adam’s post for a screenshot, I have been waiting for this for a long time. On the Sametime Gateway side, there is now support for SIP Connections that are using NAT Addresses.   I have spoken to many people who want to deploy the gateway, but this was a big obstacle for them because of internal policies regarding placement of servers in the DMZ, so this should help more people deploy the gateway. I also had a pleasant surprise this morning when I went to download Sametime 8.0.1, the IBM Passport site where customers download software has been improved, I was actually easily able to find Sametime 8.0.1 to download, and for those of you who use the Passport site you know that is really saying something. Of course don’t forget to follow Sametime on Twitter (although it is running a bit behind as it forgot to Tweat the release of 8.0.1 🙂 ) Detailed system requirements for Sametime 8.0.1

Yahoo changes that will effect connectivity with the Sametime Gateway on April 24th

If you are using the Sametime Gateway and connected to Yahoo make sure you read Technote 1303292.  On April 24th Yahoo will be moving to new gateways, so you will need to adjust your firewall rules for the new Hostnames/IP Addresses which are documented in the technote. Thanks for the heads up Vinny.

The twins have names (finally)

We had the Bris for our sons today, and they now have names.  The baby formerly known as “A” was named Abraham Jared, and is being called Abe.  The baby formerly known as “B” was named Jack Benjamin, and is being called Jack. Will be trying to get back to some normal blogging, but it might be a bit slow until after Passover.

Two weeks have flown by

The twins are two weeks old today, they are both doing great and we have scheduled their Bris for next Sunday at which time we will give them their names External Image I am headed back to the office this week, and try to sink back in to work, lots to catch up on with Quickr 8.1 and Sametime advanced, as well as Lotus Connections stuff I am working on, and lots of beta code refreshes that need to be downloaded and installed.

Homecoming!

Update on the twins

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes via comments, tweets and e-mails.  By far the most popular question I have been getting is about the babies names.  Right now the babies have not been given names, by Jewish tradition baby boys are given their names on the eighth day at their Bris.  Our twins were born a few weeks early so their Bris will likely be delayed a bit beyond the eighth day (we wait until the doctor clears them medically which takes precedence over anything else).  One more note, having attended many Bris in the past I can assure you they are nothing like the one that takes place in the Seinfeld episode “”The Bris”. The twins are both doing well, and we expect them to be in the hospital for somewhere between 7-10 days.  My wife came home from the hospital today, so for the next week we will be doing a lot of shuffling back and forth from home to the hospital which is fortunately close to home.  The big sister has been really great so far, and this afternoon she will finally get a chance to see her brothers through the window of the room they are in.
