I’ve been holding off on the purchase of a tablet until the latest round of Android Honeycomb devices hit the market… and if CES is any indication, I think I chose wisely.
I did – as a Christmas gift for my 5yr old – pick up a Coby Kyros… which is a decent little Android 2.1 device.
It’s not geek-level kit, but for what he uses it for – specifically music playback, the occasional ripped DVD, and Angry Birds – it gets the job done.
[And while he’s at school, if gives me a “beyond the emulator” test bed for the mobile-friendly XPage apps I’ve been working on.]
That being said, I’m really interested in getting my hands on a 7in multi-touch dual-core Honeycomb device ASAP… until then, it’s my iPhone 4!

I wont be at LS this year but as my “smart phone” has gotten smarter, I find less and less reason to take a laptop. I think the tablet is an “in between” device. I might bring it to a conference but odds are good I would not carry it with me most of the time. the iPhone and Android devices are getting so capable, I prefer their “fit in a pocket” form factor and they do just about everything I want when attending a conference. I’ll be interested in the survey results !
The follow up question should be, if you answered YES, will you still bring your laptop? I”m guessing for Lotusphere, the answer is yes. However, increasingly for other trips, the answer is no.
I like Kathy’s point. I guess that really matter on what you do for the day job. Since I’m an admin and need remote access, I would still have to take my laptop down with me so I could remote into the office to fix any server problems. But, I would LOVE, repeat LOVE a tablet to have with me to take notes, keep up with email, blog, etc, without having to cart around the several pounds of dead weight in the backpack.
Mitch, I guess Pepto Bismol tablets don’t count, eh?
ha, I thought about an option for just asprin and tylenol

Like Chris, I have been waiting for the latest round of Android tablets. Not sure if any will be available before Lotusphere though.
I agree all the Android tablet options are not really on the market yet, and I don’t think they will make it before Lotusphere
