JMP203 Getting to Know XPages

I have not done much with xpages, being an admin I have been more focused on things like DAOS and ID vault in 8.5. Sitting through this jumpstart I am blown away by what can be done easily in xpages. Look out I might be playing with the design client later, always a dangerous thing.

Jumpstart Day

Last night got to meet up with a bunch of people at ESPN, great to put a lot of faces with Twitter names, and catch up with people in person. Jumpstart day is underway, I started out the day at JMP201 Using AJAX and JSON in Domino Web Applications.  An interesting session, if maybe slightly advanced for this admins development skills ( or maybe I really should have had coffee before the session).  Next up is JMP203 Getting to Know XPages and the new IBM Lotus Domino Designer.  While I have played a  little with the new designer, I have not done anything with Xpages, so this should be a good education for me. After lunch this afternoon I am looking forward to watching the judging of the Lotus Award Finalists on the show floor. More later.

The Lotusphere Blogger Program

Erica Topolski of IBM Media Relations provided some additional information about the first ever Lotusphere Blogger Program over on the Lotusphere Blog. Since Ed told us to announce ourselves consider this my announcement. They have put together a terrific agenda for the program some of the highlights include: -Sneak peek of the Vendor Showcase before it opens -A special Q&A Session with the Lotus Exec team -An advance look at a news announcement (with no blogging restrictions 🙂 ) -Lab Tours, and Meet the experts sessions There are a few other items on the agenda as well, and the good news for me is that my schedule will allow me to make it to almost all of them. I feel fortunate to have been one of 25 bloggers invited to join this program, and I think it shows that IBM really does value the blogging community.   Tomorrow I will post a bit more detail on where (and how) to find me at Lotusphere 2009, but for all the news during the week check back here and on my twitter stream.

I never tried this hard to get to school!

I don’t think I ever tried this hard to go to school when I was a kid

WICOMICO CHURCH, Va. – A 6-year-old Virginia boy who missed his bus tried to drive to school in his family’s sedan — and crashed. His parents were charged with child endangerment. State police said the boy suffered only minor injuries and authorities drove him to school after he was evaluated at a local hospital for a bump on his head. He arrived shortly after lunch, Sgt. Tom Cunningham said. The boy, whose name wasn’t released, missed the bus, took the keys to his family’s 2005 Ford Taurus and drove nearly six miles toward school while his mother was asleep, police said.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – Two Woonsocket High School boys did the right thing by trying to get to school on time. It was the way they got there that police had a problem with. Police told The Call of Woonsocket the boys ages 15 and 16 stole a car Tuesday morning in order to make it to school on time.
